How long does an individual session last? How much does a session cost? What do people typically do in a session? It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I'm ready to commit. I'm a very private person. Will I have to disclose personal information? How will I feel after a session? |
| How long does an individual session last? |
| |
I
schedule 90 minutes for a first session, because there is usually some
teaching involved. Depending on the individual, a first session can
take all 90 minutes, or less than 60. When you have some experience
with Focusing - attendance at a workshop (mine or someone else's) or a
guided session with me or any other Focusing teacher/guide - the
session is 60 minutes long and the fee is $75. |

Ordinarily,
a first session is $95. However, if you are signed up for a Level 1
workshop and are having the session as the required prerequisite for
the workshop, it's just $75. A regular session (that is, not a first
experience) is $75. |

| What do people typically do in a session? |
| |
My
intent for a first session is to give a person at least a taste of
Focusing. Because we all come to Focusing from such different places,
what shape this takes is hard to predict. What I do is easier to talk
about: I guide the person step by step through the Focusing process.
This means that I help you bring your awareness into your body and
greet what you find there. From that point on, we follow the needs and
desires of the "somethings" that you find in your inner world, with an
attitude of compassion and acceptance. For example, if something inside
wants to let you know how it feels, we will listen together and let it
know that you hear it. If something inside is afraid, we will keep that
part company and invite it to tell us about its fear. If something
inside wants to hide, we will let it know that it's okay to hide ...
that we will not force it to do anything it doesn't want to do. And so
on ...
Focusing
is about deeply listening to your inner world. When you listen to
yourself this way, you create a new relationship with yourself. My job
as a guide is to coach people in this tender approach to their own
inner relationship. |

No problem! You might want to attend a free thirty-minute TeleSeminar Introduction or a local Introduction to Focusing, which takes place in locations around San Diego and takes about two and a half hours. |

| I'm a very private person. Will I have to dislose personal information? |
| No!
You will not be asked to reveal any private information that you’re not
comfortable sharing. You will not be diagnosed, analyzed, interpreted
or made wrong in any way. And you will not be sold on any further
sessions or workshops – information on these will only be provided if
you request it. |
| |
| How will I feel after a session? |
| You
are likely to feel some difference in the issue you worked on after
just one session. Many people experience a significant shift. Some
people find they feel better without knowing why – at least at first.
“I don’t know why I feel so light and relaxed; the problem is the
same.” Wait a few hours... let the process unfold... and then check
again if the problem or issue feels different. Sometimes
people want more sessions, others may want to practice further on their
own and others may feel ready for a Level 1 workshop at this point. Although
many people want only one or two sessions, I am also available to work
with people over a number of sessions. This is completely your choice. |
